Geauxing to Tiger Country!

Mason and I are headed east tomorrow morning. First, we will be stopping in Shreveport so Mason can meet with some work people. Hopefully, he can just drop me off at the casino or shopping outlet, while he *yawn* takes care of some biz. After that, we are headed to Lafayette where we will be spending the night with one of M's work colleagues and his wife. Then, bright and early Sat. morning we're heading on down to Tiger Country (Baton Rouge) to tailgate and go to the LSU vs. Florida football game. Should be a great game, and I have never been to an LSU game before. I hear that it is quite an experience. I've got my purple shirt ready to cheer on the Tigers (just this once)! Geaux Tigers (and Longhorns, duh)! :)

Hope you all have a fab weekend! :) XOXO

Throwback Thursday

Time for another blast from the past. If you consider 1995 the past. Which I definitely do! ;)

Anyway, here is one of my fav. songs from one of my most fav. albums by one of my fav. bands (ok, you get the point).

"Rain King" by Counting Crows

Thought this song was fitting for all the rain we've been getting! Enjoy! ;)

Halloween Costume 2K9

And so begins, the age old debate.... What do I want to dress up as for Halloween this year? Mason and I will be attending a Halloween party with friends again this year and will probably do some bar hopping around Uptown as well. Call me lazy if you will, but I am just not in a creative-costume idea kinda mood this year. We don't have to dress up as a "costume couple", but I doubt M has any great solo costume ideas of his own. It's easier when I just pick things out for him! ;) Here are a couple of costumes that I still have that I just might pull out of the costume box (you know, the one sitting in your storage closet that has all of your slutty costumes you wore to themed frat parties and Halloweens past...yes that one):

Little Red Riding Hood (wore Halloween 2007 and 2005)I like this costume, but I have worn it a couple times already, and what would Mason be? Big Bad Wolf? Too much fur I think....

Matadora and Bull (wore Halloween 2008)Haha! My friend Ashley got married last year on Nov. 1, and had her rehearsal dinner on Halloween night. It was a "costume-encouraged" Rehearsal Dinner. So fun! And for the record, I did not make Mason wear this. He fully agreed to it! :)

Alice and Wonderland (wore Halloween 2006)

This was my fav. costume. Alas, I rented it from a costume shop in Austin and no longer have it. Though it was cute at the time, I def think I am over the hoochie mama, disney character costumes. Sadly, I think I have finally gotten too old for those...

Anyway, so do you all have any costume suggestions/ideas? What are some of your fav. costumes from years past? My bosses mom owns a Halloween/Costume Shop so I can ask him to get me virtually any costume. Let's put our thinking caps on! Oh and I tag you all to post your fav or most embarassing Halloween Costume from years past! Do it! :)

Buckets of Rain & Vegan Cake

Another rainy week in Dallas. Yuck! I'm starting to get sick of gray skies and the constant hair-frizzing drizzle. The weekend started out pleasant though. Mason's parents got in town and we went out for sushi (sounds like we are pretty obsessed with sushi huh? Well, we are... :). Saturday morning, Mason's mom, my mom and I headed out to Canton in search of new treasures for our homes. It was soo crowded! I guess there were hoards of people because the weather was perfect and it is the beginning of the holiday season stretch. I get slightly claustrophobic, however, when shopping in a crowded environment (I avoid the mall like the plague during Christmas!). Anyway, I got a few new cute things in Canton including some christmas garland for my mantle (never too early to start thinking ahead about Xmas decor ;), a cute new dress for fall and a few dip mixes. All in all a fun and successful trip.

Once we got back to Dallas, the rain started and followed us all the way to Weatherford where we went for Mason's 3rd cousin, Shad's, wedding. The rain didn't put too much of a damper on the wedding fun, however. The only hitch in the wedding was when the ring bearer accidentally lost one of the wedding bands. Ooops! All of the guests got down on their hands and knees and luckily we found the ring, without the Bride and Groom ever being the wiser! ;) Talk about a panic attack though, poor kid! After the ceremony, we celebrated with lots of family and many bottles of wine. I also even had my first taste of Vegan Cake (Shad's bride and her friends are Vegan). It wasn't too bad, I personally prefer my cakes with extra butter, cream and sugar though! ;)
After the wedding, we took our umbrellas and a few bottles of wine, over to a family members wedding for the "after-party". It was fun visiting with M's family.
The next morning we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast with his fam and took our pic on the front porch in the rocking chairs.
This has now become a tradition. We went to Cracker Barrel in Weatherford when we very first started dating, because Mason had brought me to his big family reunion during the summer of 2007!
Someday, hopefully, we will purchase these rocking chairs and grow old in them! ;)

Headed to Canton (TX, not OH)!

Brrrr! It is a cool, fall day in Dallas, TX. I have literally been sitting on my hands at work all morning, trying to get them to warm up...but that presents a problem as I try and write my blog post. I might have to wear my mittens to work before too long! ;)

Anyway, I digress... Last night, Mason and I went to our friend's Kelli & Lezlie's apartment to grill out and drink wine! I have not had drinks on a "school night" in a long while, and I am soo exhausted this morning. I also had to wake up at the crack of dawn and scrub our little apt from top to bottom a la Cinderella (sans singing mice to help me do my job). Mason's parents are coming in town again this weekend for another family wedding and this time they are shacking up with us. After our household disaster last time they came in town, I wanted everything to look nice, so I got out the vacuum and scrub brush and went to work. Now, I'm very ready to go home and take a nap!

Tomorrow morning/afternoon, Mason's mom, my mom, my aunt and me (geez..that's a lot of m's) are loading up and heading one hour east of Dallas to Canton, TX. It is a small country town, near Tyler, that hosts First Monday Trade Days. Every weekend before the first Monday of each month, the town hosts a big bizarre sale, if you will, where hundreds of vendors set up shop and sell everything from home decor, clothing, food, furniture, you name it. There are soo many cute items for sale at this event and for such great prices! My mom, aunt and I have been going for a long time now, but Mason's mom has never been so we will be showing her the ropes. It looks like the fall weather will be pleasant this weekend too! Hopefully, I'll come home with some new treasures! :) Hope you all have a great weekend!
